Goodbye Grass! Encinitas/Olivenhain
The grass is gone from this delightful home and garden. The owners worked with Greg Rubin, an expert in landscaping with native plants, to replace it with an eclectic mix of low-water, droughtresistant plants. The result is an exuberant display with color and variety- and low water bills.
California Fusion Encinitas/Olivenhain
Designed by Scott Spencer, this is a true gardener’s garden. A woodland area reflects the owner’s New Zealand heritage and meandering paths lead one past an intriguing and abundant display of trees and flowering plants suited to our Mediterranean climate.
Succulent Drama!
Fairbanks Highlands
This stunning garden is featured in Debra Baldwin’s book, Designing with Succulents. Designed by Michael Buckner, the garden boasts a vivid palette of colors that complement the red and golden hues in the carefully chosen and placed boulders and river rocks.
Roses, Roses, Roses!
Carlsbad
A long winding stone drive lined with jacaranda leads to this Tuscan-styled home featured in the Castles of Carlsbad Home Tour. The front door is flanked by magnificent twin Canary Island palms, each surrounded by a field of mounding Korean grass, and 48 different types of roses bloom in glorious color.
Recaptured Glory!
Carlsbad
The owners of this home, featured in San Diego Home and Garden magazine, have created an appealing retreat with a European sensibility. The beautiful stone walls and walkways were designed and executed by the owner, using recycled materials. He has an eye for found objects that, repositioned in the garden, create striking compositions.
